Our client came to us to realise her vision for the world’s first college sports recruitment app.  Knowing her audience very well, she knew that anything short of amazing would not get off the ground.  Coaches needed everything, in their hands, from launch and it had to work perfectly.

Together we worked out every detail, mapped every process and rule, and delivered a platform that not only enables recruiters and athletes to connect with coaches, but runs the whole business.

The brief

The process of finding a student athlete for a US College or University usually happens in a very traditional way, dominated by emails and phone calls directed towards already busy coaches.  A clear opportunity existed to disrupt this industry by providing a mobile app to showcase new talent and put the coach in control.

The user experience needed to be first class, ensuring the right athletes were presented to the right coaches, and putting all the information they need right in front of them.

The app needed to facilitate group communication between the coach, athlete and their parent or guardian, all while keeping the recruiter in the loop.

The recruitment process in the palm of your hand

For the first time, athletes can manage their own profile to present themselves as the best in their field.  By loading in all their personal, sporting and academic details, along with TikTok-style videos, they give coaches the chance to see how great a prospect they are.

Coaches can browse, follow and shortlist athletes to stay in control and not miss an opportunity.  Emails are gone, with messaging now instant and direct with the athlete and their family.

All core functionality, for the big screen

In building a platform which runs a business, there are a lot of things that won’t fit on a small screen.  Recruiters need to upload athletes, coaches need to discuss prospects face-to-face in a meeting room, and staff need to manage the business end-to-end.

We produced a fully scalable administration system to facilitate this, with simple user-friendly UX, which can flex and grow with new business needs.

Selling the benefits of the Pllinx platform

An effective, sales-drive User Experience was created for the Pllinx website, in order to effectively communicate the key benefits of the platform to the main audience groups.

A Sign-Up form captures new user registrations, pre-validating coaches before sending them to the client for approval.

An additional "mobile content" section can be managed via the Umbraco CMS and pulled into the mobile app's Help and FAQ sections, to ensure this can be easily updated any time.
